Interiors by Olatz is a design firm headed by Olatz Schnabel.
Basque-born, Paris-raised and world-travelled Olatz Schnabel brings her unique background to design in order to “influence, inspire and translate”.
Olatz and her team of architects, designers, decorators and branding specialists approach a home with the same vision as a hotel, a restaurant, a retails pace - or a corporate identity if needed. Each project commands creativity and methodology unique to the client’s ideas. We will enhance this objective to come up with solutions that are both functional and breathtaking.
Simplicity meets luxury: Olatz has had her own line of bespoke linens and sensual silk loungewear for nearly a decade, selling in her own Clarkson Street boutique and on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan.
T, The New York Times Style Magazine, has just introduced Interiors by OLATZ to its readers. Published right after Fall Fashion Week 2012 , Olatz Schnabel vividly displays her acute sense for style, ambience and color in her townhouse in New York’s Soho.

Interiors by Olatz thinks of objects in terms of creating rather than buying. In this creation or recreation process Olatz often uses salvage materials that transform parts of the past into new, exquisite pieces in the present.
You will have one on one time with Olatz and her exclusive team working closely together. Shaping side by side, down to every last detail, will allow your new business or home to flow as a cohesive unit tied together by personal touch. This unique approach allows for freedom with guidance to actualize and transform your dream space.
"The scale of the space dictates the overall design. This townhouse was of a modest width, so I kept the design simple. I like feeling like I am in the French countryside, then walking outside into the hustle of New York City."
"When Julian and I bought this Stanford White house, we wanted to honor the original architecture, while adding personal elements that accented the atmosphere. The sea, the morning light, the wind: velvet, warm colors and crisp linens."
"Stepping through the door of my linen store transports you to another place -- perhaps the turn of the century in la Havana or Buenos Aires. This visceral feeling is a perfect match for my timeless, color driven, collection of linens."
"Olatz made this place seem like a house instead of a theater set. I mean, I tried to make a home for her, but in fact she made the home for me." -- Julian Schnabel
With an eye trained by her close acquaintance to the art world for more than two decades, Olatz Schnabel considers furniture an important sculptural element of every interior space. Apart from custom solutions for sofas, tables, lamps, and other architectural detail Olatz prides herself for her sense for found objects.
With an exquisite eye, Ms. Schnabel finds – and her team transforms – unique recovered items into exceptional treasures. Handcrafted, hand-painted and often literally dressed in new cloth(es), Olatz Schnabel’s Objets Trouvés transform any space – a home or, on a larger scale, a restaurant or hotel – into a coveted and distinct environment
